Frequently Asked Questions
Most clients complete the MyCaseInfo questionnaire in 2 to 4 hours total, spread across multiple sessions. You can save your progress and return at any time. The system guides you through each section: personal information, income, expenses, assets, debts, and prior filings. Document uploads happen as you go.
Yes. MyCaseInfo uses bank-level SSL encryption to protect all data transmitted between your device and the server. Your information is accessible only to Steven C. Fraser, P.A. and is never shared with third parties. All attorney-client communications remain privileged.
Once you complete the questionnaire and upload your documents, Attorney Fraser personally reviews everything. He then contacts you to discuss your case, confirm the filing strategy (Chapter 7 or Chapter 13), and schedule your filing date. There are no surprise hand-offs to paralegals or third-party networks.
No. You can start the questionnaire immediately and upload documents as you gather them. The system saves your progress automatically. Most clients begin with basic personal information and add financial documents over the following days.
Yes. Attorney Fraser's DC practice is 100% virtual. Case preparation happens through MyCaseInfo, consultations are by phone or video, and the petition is filed electronically with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia. The only in-person requirement is the 341 Meeting of Creditors, which has been conducted by telephone in DC since 2020.
For a joint filing, both spouses complete the questionnaire together under one account. MyCaseInfo supports married couple filings with combined income, expense, and asset schedules. Joint filing is often more cost-effective than two separate petitions.
Chapter 7 (DC single filer): $1,750 attorney fee + $338 court filing fee. Chapter 7 (DC married couple): $2,000 attorney fee + $338 court filing fee. Chapter 13: attorney fees vary by plan complexity and are discussed at your free consultation. Payment plans are available through Confido Legal. No hidden costs.
Filing bankruptcy does not automatically result in loss of a security clearance. In fact, the federal adjudicative guidelines recognize that resolving debt through bankruptcy can be a positive step that demonstrates financial responsibility. Unresolved debt is typically a greater security concern than a completed bankruptcy filing. Attorney Fraser has experience advising federal employees and contractors on this issue.
MyCaseInfo supports individual cases (single filer or married couple) for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy, and non-individual cases for small business liquidation under Chapter 7. This includes sole proprietors, LLCs, and corporations seeking orderly wind-down of business operations.
